For the first time ever we parked our Airstream on the beach and it was incredible. Goose Island is just what we needed to unwind and relax.

I love being by the ocean and the views from inside our Airstream were spectacular. It was a whole new and wonderful experience to enjoy coffee outside in the morning right on the beach while listening to the ocean waves.

Goose Island State Park is in Rockport, TX and is a beautiful place to stay. There are RV sites in various areas of the park but we were able to snag one of the sites right off the water. Each of the water sites has a cabana with a picnic table that includes water and electric hook-ups, no sewer. One thing that was odd is that the hook ups have your RV door opening away from your cabana on the opposite side but we asked the park rangers if we could park on the opposite side of the cabana and they said it was ok.

Our grandkids enjoying playing on the beach right outside our Airstream. They spent hours and hours building all different kinds of sandcastles on the beach, and playing outside games. Our dog Jaxie loved it just as much. The kids taught him to dig holes for the sand castles on command and he was one happy pooch! We also took walks up and down the beach and it was just so relaxing and the memories are beautiful.

There is a huge lighted pier that goes far out into the water for fishing and crabbing, both of which we enjoyed while we were there. There are built in rod holders and the pier is sturdy and well maintained. Our daughter and grandkids ended up catching 37 blue crabs and we grilled them the next day with the family. They tasted amazing! We all had so much fun fishing and crabbing on the pier and met such nice people there.

We enjoyed riding our e-bikes through the park and enjoyed the beach atmosphere. There are random picnic areas, tent sites, and the foliage and scenery is so amazing. When we weren’t riding our e-bikes we were taking long walks and it was just so good for us to be out in the salty air in such a relaxing place.

Paul enjoyed grilling outside. It’s a good day when you can grill on the beach with a cold drink in your hand and soft music playing in the back ground. Vacation and camping goals for sure!

If you are able to get to Goose Island check out the Big Tree. It’s one of the oldest living live oak trees (estimated to be 1,000 years old) in the U.S. It has an old rail fence around it with a plaque that tells you about the history of the tree. It’s incredible to see and amazing that it’s still standing despite the hurricane weather it’s endured over the years.

Downtown Rockport is just over the bridge and there are several restaurants to choose from. My daughter and I took the kids to BenchWarmers Restaurant and it was so good! They have a very diverse menu and we ended up trying their donut burger, different flavor chicken wings, alligator, Kimchi fries, egg drop soup, and fries. We topped it all off with fried Oreos to celebrate my granddaughters birthday. It was a great experience and I recommend it.

Aunt Ruby and Grandma Linda came out and joined us and we flew kites on the beach. If you come to Goose Island bring a kite because the breeze lifts them up easily and it’s so much fun. The kites looked absolutely beautiful against the clear blue sky and we all made wonderful memories together.

And did I mention the sunsets? Wow! They are incredible. We loved sitting outside in the evenings and watching the sun set on the horizon. We just love it here.
