We got eBikes! We opted to get the Lectric XP 2.0 eBikes for several reasons; good reviews, low step through for shorter height, and they are foldable to fit in the back of our truck.
We are full time RVERS and follow MANY other full-timers. The MOST purchased eBikes with our fellow RVer’s are the Lectric eBikes. This made a huge impact on our decision because if this company’s product was not worth it they wouldn’t be recommending it. Word of mouth is huge for us when getting ready to make a big purchase especially with our lifestyle. Fulltime RVer’s have different needs than home owners re portability etc. so it was a huge consideration that they support this company and bike.
I (Amber) am 5 foot 3 1/2 inches and we looked at some other eBikes but the step through was not low enough or the seat at it’s lowest position was just too high to reach the ground without being on my tip toes. This is not safe for me regarding balance. The Lectric eBikes met this safety requirement for me as I’m able to sit on the seat and touch the ground flat footed. I’m in my 50’s and definitely want to ensure I’m taking all of the precautions regarding my safety to prevent injury.
Another requirement we had is that our new eBikes be foldable so we can fit them into the back of the truck. We have an Airstream with no bay storage so this was a must and again Lectric came through for us. We have two big totes and put our folded eBikes in the totes then scoot them in the back of the covered truck for travel. Easy peasy.
Some additional items we purchased for our eBikes were phone mounts, helmets, bike covers, a comfort seat package, and bike locks. We got the phone mounts and bike helmets from Dick’s Sporting goods on sale but you can find these items elsewhere. I do recommend that if you purchase a phone mount and intend to take video while riding your bike that you purchase a phone mount that will flip vertical or horizontal depending on your filming needs. Ours is limited so we will most likely purchase different mounts later.
We purchased our bike cover off Amazon but again you can find bike covers elsewhere. Ours works well to protect our bikes from the weather and keeps the bikes somewhat out of site for any people thinking of attempting to take it for a spin. Which leads us to the bike locks we purchased from Lectric. They are no joke and fit right into a slot on the bike so you always have them with you. These locks are metal and built very well. They have a key lock and can’t be cut with bolt cutters. Nothing is full proof but if someone is trying to get these locks off it won’t be easy.
We also purchased a comfort package from Lectric and got bigger and better seats. The seats that come standard are comfortable but not as comfortable as the upgraded package. Below you can see the difference in the two. The upgraded seats also have springs making your ride much more comfortable when on rougher terrain. We are definitely happy with this upgrade.
We put together a list of our costs for the bikes, upgrades, and additional purchases. We were not bargain shopping at the time necessarily so this is just what we paid at the time. If you take your time and do some research you are bound to get better deals than we did.
On another note the bikes come packaged very well. So well in fact that I would suggest you get comfortable and grab some tools to get it completely unpacked. It takes a while as they use zip ties, Styrofoam, cardboard, plastic, tape, etc. It’s a pain to unwrap but totally appreciated since the bike is protected and undamaged during shipment.
Other than taking nine weeks to receive our Lectric eBikes we only had one other issue. My bike, the white one, did not have the battery or the keys. Paul called Lectric and they had the missing items shipped within 24 hours. These things happen and we appreciate their great customer service and quick resolution.
